The Making of the
Chapter Room
(and finishing up the Hall)
Fall of 1988
| Jason Blount as our Pylortes at the time, deserves an enormous amount of the credit in turning what was a dang underused storage room into a chapter room. Once it was decided that the core of the construction should be made of durable concrete block. Jason knew that none of us had the skills to do the quality work he wanted; so he called upon his high school friend Ben to lay the block which became the bar, Dj booth and dance floor. Ben's work was compensated with a case of Longneck Budweiser. The top of the bar came from an old tobacco barn in Buckingham county that was 150 yrs old back in 1988 when Jason took it down over at a friend's farm. The boards were put through a planner and turned out to be beautiful oak. As you can see from the pictures everybody wanted to be part of the making of the hall and chapter room even though not all generated actual work :-) |

Mohammed Naweed Stwodah sweeping up the saw dust The three triangles with the "house triangle" was a design refinement that Jabba and the Frenchman conceived. It was also made into a rubber stamp used to mark the hands of guests at our parties. It was ruined early on by a water building up behind the paint. |

| The tap system and refrigerating unit was donated to us by Frank Musso thanks to Steve Wertz and Eric Sanders who worked at the Pizza Parlor "Franco's" accross from Hampden Sydney before it closed. The Zeta Class (Lewie Lawrence, Will Birdsong, Kenny Strawn and Mohamed Stowdah) donated the pressure system for the unit. |
