Robert Essington aka Rooster has a new Job!: "I have been offered and accepted a position at Allstate effective December 7th. I will be an Associate(Assistant) Operations Managers for the Incoming Call Center located in Roanoke, VA. I will be one of two managers overseeing close to 200 customer service reps during peak hours from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight with floating holidays and weekends. The call center usually handles anywhere from 50 to 60 thousand calls a week. I will be going thru a very intensive management training program that could take anywhere from 6 to 9 months to complete. However, I will begin managing my shift in late January or early February." Congratulate him at Essing3632@aol.com
Rooster (PK 36) and Kim went to get a sonogram. They are expecting a girl. Due date is 3/25/99. Congratulations!
Robert S. Smith (PK35) found us on the Web and dropped us a line: "I just recently started a new job and happened to be searching the web looking for Longwood Info, and then TKE and so forth and found the PK web page. It really brought back alot of great memories for me. I sure did disappear. After leaving Longwood I transferred to Salisbury State University where I finished my degree in 1990. I went on to accept a position as Technology Supervisor for a school district in Delaware.
During my 4 1/2 year tenure, I got married and my wife and I had our first child. I then accepted a position at Salisbury State University as the Associate Director of Information Technology. During my 3 1/2 years there my wife accepted a position as an adjunct faculty member at SSU. We had another child and my wife now wants to complete her Phd at
Univ of Maryland in Information Technology. So we have moved to the big city. We live just outside of D.C. in Bowie Maryland. I have accepted a position as the Operations Manager for the Office of Automation of the Department of Justice Anti-Trust Division. I just wanted to say Hi!" You can e-mail Robert at robert.smith4@usdoj.gov
Steve Franklin dropped us a line to let us know that he has a new e-mail address stfranklin@erols.com. "As far as the career page, I'm a consultant, so my company is always looking for people in the computer field. Programmers, DBAs, etc. I'm about to make my fifth job change in four years, so I'm getting good at these technical resumes, and interviews. I've been involved in eleven seperate database projects ranging from very small systems with a few users and a few PCs, up to huge systems involving multiple
platforms(Unix,VMS,PCs) around the world. I even got a "luxury cruise" aboard the USS Mt Whitney during a military exercise, and I got to ride in a U.S. Navy hovercraft (while doing integration testing for one my systems). My projects have involved full software lifecycle (designing, modeling, developling, documenting), to software maintaince
of existing systems. So you can send anyone looking for jobs in this field my way. Consulting firms do pay ALOT more than working for an individual company, the benefits just suck. But it is also alot easier to change contracts, as I'm about to do(my resume hits the street tommorrow).
Brother Beef (aka Will Birdsong PK 62) will spend X-mas in Las Vegas!!

Darren McCauley (PK27) dropped us a line: "Jon Mills (PK117) and his wife Amanda just had another baby. They had a little girl and her name is Ariana Gabrielle. Proud big brother is Perrin." Congratulate him at this address mills27@aol.com.
Letter from Rooster (PK36)
How is everyone doing? Just wanted to let you guys know that Kim and I have moved to Roanoke, VA about two months ago. We got tired of Northern Virginia and decided to move on down to where Kim's family resides. I resigned as manager of the call center for Cable & Wireless, USA. on September 11th and I am unfortunately still looking for a job. There is a very good possibility that I will be hired as a call center manager for Allstate. I would be in charge of close to 200 customer service reps. They handle around 50 to 60 thousand calls a week. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have had two interviews with them this past week. Kim was able to get a job at Carilion Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
I had dinner with Marcus and his wife about three weeks ago. Unfortunately, he is the only fraternity brother down in this area. I was able to hook-up with a quite few brothers back in October for Octoberfest weekend. We played two rounds of golf. Unfortunately, most of the brothers, including myself left before the ceremony for the new charter. [...]
Kim and I are expecting another baby in late March. Just want to drop you guys a note. E-mail Rooster at Essing3632@aol.com
Patrick Wright (PK 112) sent a Oozeball 98 picture, now in the Photo Album.
Doug Shamblen, PK 10 wrote us: "Please update the TKE mailing list to include my e-mail address... dshamblen@boatus.com. The job is going well. I've been promoted a few times, I'm now a "manager" here... I know it sounds so "fast food-ish", but the next promotion will be Assist Vice President, so that one will sound better. Donna is doing nicely. Family ok etc... [...] We see Scott (PK 4) and Laura frequently, they're doing ok.
Greg McMahan (PK 59) let us know that all was well: We have just had a new daughter, Jordann, who is two months old now. Our other daughter Caitlyn is now four. How time flies when you are having fun! I recently started working at a pharmaceutical software company in their customer service department. Congratulate Big Mac at gtmcmahan@worldnet.att.net
Ellery Bradley (PK 1) sent us pictures he took at October Fest which you can see on page two of the Photo Album. Thanks Jell Roy!! ebrad14119@aol.com
